Mary Katherine (Jones) Smith of Albia passed away December 17, 2010, after a short illness at the Monroe Care Center in Albia.
Mary was preceded in death by her father John J. Jones; her sister Dorothy Ann (Selix) Jones; and a great nephew William Joseph Beach.
Mary Katherine was born September 16, 1953 in Albia to John J. and Velma Faye (McDonough) Jones. She graduated from Albia High School. After graduation she married and later divorced. Mary worked at McCurdy Feed and Seed in Fremont, Iowa.
Mary is survived by her mother Velma Faye Jones of Albia; one brother John W. (Norma) Jones of Pocahontas, Arkansas; and three sisters Margaret (Robert) Preston of St. Joseph, Missouri, Linda (Lee) Sample and Patty Bossard and her friend Jim Long of Albia. Mary is also survived by two nieces; six nephews; five great nieces; five great nephews; and one great-great nephew.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at the Winfield Funeral Home in Albia, Rev. Michael Volkmer, C.PP.S. officiating. Burial will follow services at Service Chapel Cemetery of rural Albia.
Visitation will begin at 11:00 A.M., Monday December 20, 2010 at the Winfield Funeral Home. Mary's family will be present Monday evening from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Monday evening.
A memorial may be given to the family and will be established at a later date in Mary's honor.
