Jean Marie Spaur, age 83 of Pella, formerly of Bussey, died Thursday, February 21, 2013, at the Comfort House in Pella.

Jean was born February 21, 1930, to Rodney and Hazel (Lee) Phillips in Hamilton, IA. She married Bill Spaur on September 29, 1946 at the Bussey Methodist Church in Bussey. After 62 years of marriage, he preceded Jean in death on May 26, 2009.

Jean grew up and attended school in Hamilton and Lovilia. She was an assistant for Dr. Carlson in Bussey for 31 years. Family was everything to Jean, and she really enjoyed spending time with them.

Jean is survived by two children, Mary Jean Ferguson of Silvis, IL and Bill, Jr. (Audrey) Spaur of Pella; five grandchildren, Mike, Scott, Chad, Sarah, and Alaina; five great grandchildren; and three sisters, Marge Nucko of Albia, Carol Richmond of Lovilia, and Wilma Clubb of Cameron, MO.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; three brothers, Russell, Roy, and James Phillips; and two sisters, Helen Avon and Sue VanNess.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Monday, February 25, 2013, at Bussey Methodist Church in Bussey, with Pastor Dale Schoening officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery north of Bussey.

Visitation will be 10-11 a.m., Monday, February 25, 2013, at Bussey Methodist Church in Bussey, with Jean's family present.

Memorials have been established to Bussey Methodist Church and Hospice of Pella (Comfort House).
