Bonnie Jean Beal, age 84 of Albia, passed away Thursday, March 6, 2014, surrounded by her family, under the care of Monroe County Hospice at her home.
Bonnie was born October 2, 1929, to George Wesley and Catherine Elizabeth (Cummings) Kerr in Pershing, IA. She married Donald Henry Beal on June 6, 1947, at the Pastor Parsonage in Tracy. They shared 50 years of marriage together before his passing in 1997.
Bonnie graduated from Tracy High School in 1947. She attended Albia Gospel Chapel from 1959-1999, and then attended the Albia Baptist Temple from 1999-2014. She was very involved in the church and volunteered much of her time to it. She also was active with Monroe County Hospice.
Bonnie is survived by seven children, John Anthony Beal, Thomas Richard (Raeleen) Beal, Carolyn Dianne (Wayne) Ruhl, Ronald Allen (Julie) Beal, Steven Lavern (Vicki) Beal, Donna Jean (Roger) Ragen, and Sandra Elaine (Bob) McReynolds; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bonnie is also survived by a brother, Donald Kerr; and a son-in-law, Derrell Dempster.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald; a daughter, Linda Dempster; four brothers, Vern, George, Everett and James Kerr; and a sister Dorothy Paxston.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Monday, March 10, 2014, at Tharp Funeral Home in Albia; with Pastor Brian Harris officiating. Burial will be in Selection Cemetery in Albia.
Visitation will be 1-8 p.m., Sunday, March 9, 2014, at Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Bonnie's family present from 6-8 p.m.
An open memorial has been established in Bonnie's name.
