Stephen Matthew Lahart, age 40, of Centerville, passed away Sunday, June 7, 2015, at Golden Age Care Center in Centerville.

Stephen was born March 8, 1975, to Gary and Peggy (Chidester) Lahart in Ottumwa, IA.

He attended school at Smouse-Warren School in Des Moines, graduating with the class of 1993. Stephen worked at the Tenco Center of Hope. He was always happy and enjoyed country music and dancing in his younger years. His real joy in life was spending time with his family and friends.

Stephen is survived by his grandmother, Lucille Lahart of Albia; a sister, Callie (Rich) Johnson of Eddyville; 3 nephews, Joey Testa, Blake Johnson, Brett Johnson, and several aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gary Lahart and Peggy Rogers; and his grandparents, Walter Lahart and Ed and Jean Chidester.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 13, 2015 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Georgetown, with Father Patrick Lumsden officiating. Burial will follow services at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Georgetown.

Visitation will be held from 1 p.m.-8 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2015 at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Stephen's family present from 6- 8:00 p.m.

Memorials may be made to HCI Care Services, Tenco of Ottumwa, or to Stephen's Nephews.
