Sandy Vitko, age 76, of Albia, passed away June 22, 2015 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.

She was born July 20, 1938 in Eddyville, Iowa to Marion and Bessie (Theurer) Klyn. She attended country school until attending and graduating from the Eddyville High School. She was united in marriage to Andrew Vitko on March 16, 1957 at the Pleasant Corners Church in Monroe County. To this union a daughter Carol was born. They shared 45 years of marriage before Andy's passing on March 16, 2002.

She worked for United Phone Company in Albia before taking a job with Northern, now Ferrell gas where she worked for 25 years until retiring in 1994. After retirement she helped work at the Trophy Glove.

Sandy was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Albia as well as the Altar and Rosary Society. She enjoyed playing games on her computer and was an excellent cook. Family was everything and her true joy in life was spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol Chebuhar of Des Moines; three grandchildren, Steve (Kristina) Chebuhar of Waukee, Devon (Taylor) Quail of Urbandale, and Alan (Abbie Meyer) of Ottumwa; one great-granddaughter Briar Quail; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, Brothers and Sisters-in-law.

She was preceded in death by her parents Marion and Bessie; her husband, Andy; a sister, Thelma Hervey; and three brothers, Lloyd Klyn, Max Klyn, and Glenn Klyn.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 25, 2015 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Albia, with Father Michael E. Volkmer, C.PP.S. officiating. Burial will follow services at St. Mary's Cemetery in Albia.

Visitation will be held from 3 p.m.-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Sandy's family present from 4- 8:00 p.m. A 4:00 p.m. rosary will be led by St. Mary's Altar and Rosary society and a wake service will be held at 6:00 p.m.
