Robert "Bob" E. Yohe, age 89 of Albia, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2015 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice House in Fort Dodge.

He was born August 10, 1925 to Max and Jessie Marie (Scott) Yohe. He attended Washington Elementary School before attending Albia High School. At the age of 17, he joined the United States Navy. Bob proudly served his country from 1943-1945 with extensive action in the South Pacific Theater. During his time aboard the U.S.S Leutze, Bob was injured when his ship was struck by a Kamikaze off the coast of Okanawa. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart.

On August 19, 1945, he married Vera "Babe" Louise Morgan at the Methodist Church in Albia and shared over 45 years of marriage together before Babe's passing in 1992. To this union 3 children were born, Fred, Jennifer, and Bill.

Bob worked as a meat cutter at Tates in Albia before working as a gas truck delivery driver at Deep Rock Trucking. He then went to work for the V.A. Hospital in Knoxville where he worked as a substance abuse counselor for 30 years before retiring in 1978. The Trinity United Methodist Church in Albia was a large part of his life where he enjoyed singing with his wife Babe. He was well known by his church family for his boisterous "AMENS." In addition he was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the American Legion of Albia, and the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association. He volunteered at local nursing homes where he would assist with getting residents to appointments. Bob was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan, he enjoyed painting and wallpapering houses, and was a general handyman. His real joy in life was his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bob was a very kind and giving man and was loved by everyone around him.

He is survived by his sons, Frederick (Susan) Yohe of North Charleston, S.C., Bill (Debra) Yohe of Davenport, IA; daughter, Jennifer (Glenn) Yenger of Ft. Dodge, IA; 13 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; sister, Virginia Yohe Bernstein of Norwalk, IA; brother-in-law, Leo Caster of Albia, IA; special friend Dorothy Caster of Albia, IA, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Max and Jessie, his wife, Vera "Babe" Louise Yohe; and sister, Dorothy Caster.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Albia, with Pastor Neil Montz officiating. Burial will follow services at Service Chapel Cemetery in Monroe County

Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Bob's family present from 4:00-7:00 p.m.
