Phyllis Elaine Rost at the age of 63, of Albia, lost a long hard fought battle to Ovarian Cancer on Monday, May 11, 2015, at the Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines.

Phyllis was born February 11, 1952, in Moberly, Missouri, to Claude L. and Mildred (Richardson) Teter. She grew up in Huntsville and graduated from Westran High School, Class of 1970. Phyllis married Mike Rost at her parent's home in Missouri. They were blessed with 43 years of marriage. To this union three daughters were born, Flevia, Sheryl and Michele.

Phyllis was a homemaker, and worked at Wal-Mart in Centerville for 18 years before she became a substitute rural mail carrier and later a fulltime rural carrier in Albia for a total of 15 years. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren's sporting events, reading, and doing jigsaw and word puzzles. Her real joy in life was spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.

Phyllis is survived by her husband, Mike Rost of Albia; her daughters, Flevia (Chad) Dustin of Prairie City, Sheryl Luce of Albia, and Michele Rost of Albia; 11 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild; and a sister, Leanna (Kenny) Switzer of Ozark, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mildred and Claude L. Teter; and a brother, Randy Teter.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Friday, May 15, 2015 at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Phyllis's family present.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 16, 2015 at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Pastor Jeriah Shank officiating. Burial will be at Darksville Cemetery in Huntsville, MO.
