Mary Lou Jurgensen, age 84, of Albia, died April 23, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

She was born March 19, 1931 in Ft. Dodge, Iowa to Robert and Mildred (Ryan) Wesley. She attended school in Barnum, Iowa and Graduated in 1948. She was united in marriage to Richard Jurgensen on May 30, 1950 in Barnum, IA. To this union four sons were born, John, Dan, Ted, and Matt.

Mary was a licensed cosmetologist and she enjoyed art. She was an avid member of the Sweet Adelines for over 40 years. She loved singing with her "Aloes" quartet, oil painting, and flower gardening among her many other hobbies. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Albia.

Mary is survived by her husband, Richard of Albia; four sons, John (Judy) Jurgensen of Bolivar, MO, Dan (Kris) Jurgensen of Liberty, MO, Ted (Janet) Jurgensen of Osceola, IA, and Matt (Kristi) Jurgensen of Liberty, MO; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Jean Kroneberger of Iowa City, IA; two brothers, Dennis (Sharon) Wesley of Deep Water, MO, and Jim (Alice) Wesley of Kearney, MO; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Mildred; a sister, Joyce; a brother, John; and a grandson, Patrick Jurgensen.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Albia, with Father Michael E. Volkmer, C.PP.S. officiating. Burial will follow services at St. Mary's Cemetery in Albia.

Visitation will be held from 12 p.m.-8 p.m. Monday, April 27, 2015 at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Mary's family present from 4- 8:00 p.m. A 4:00 p.m. rosary will be led by St. Mary's Altar and Rosary society and a wake service will be held at 6:00 p.m.

An open memorial has been established in Mary's family's name.
