Marie E. Granatino, age 89, of Albia, passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2016 at Monroe County Hospital in Albia surrounded by her family.

Marie was born May 16, 1926 in Monroe County Iowa, to Charles and Kathryn (Coady) La Mar. She grew up and attended Albia High School. On September 28, 1949 she was united in marriage to Albert Granatino.

Marie was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church and Altar and Rosary Society. Marie worked at the Keebler Company and retired after 32 years. She was very talented with crafts. Marie enjoyed collecting antiques, taking pictures and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her sister, Rosella Gilland, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert; her parents, Charles and Kathryn, 4 brothers, Francis, Bernard, James, and Charles LaMar and 4 sisters, Catherine Calef, Catherine LaMar, Veronica Guelzow and Mary Gross.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 11, 2016 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Albia, with Father Michael E. Volkmer, C.PP.S. officiating. Burial will follow services at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Burlington, Iowa.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Marie's family present throughout the evening. A 4:00 p.m. rosary will be led by St. Mary's Altar and Rosary Society.

A memorial has been established to St. Mary's Catholic Church in Albia.
