Margie Ann Conway, age 79, of Albia, died Thursday, March 24, 2016, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston surrounded by her family.

Margie was born on January 30, 1937 at home on the farm in Melrose to John L. and Mary T. (O'Neill) Coady. She graduated from Melrose High School with the class of 1955. On October 12, 1957, she was united in marriage to Harold Conway at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Melrose. To this union 4 children were born, Carrie, Lori, Amy, and Alice.

Margie was very proud of her work at the Equitable Building in Des Moines. She worked as a teacher's associate in Melrose and the Tempe Arizona School District. She later worked at Delong's in Albia before retiring.

Margie was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Melrose and later a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and St. Mary's Altar and Rosary Society in Albia. She was very proud of her Irish heritage and proud to be from Melrose. She was a great cook in general, but was famous for lasagna and corned beef on St. Patrick's Day. Margie was a talented seamstress and enjoyed making quilts. She loved camping and boating at Lake Rathbun, flowers and gardening. She was a "fierce" competitor playing any game and hated to lose. She was an avid Sudoku and crossword puzzle lover.

Margie is survived by her husband, Harold; 4 daughters, Carrie Andrew, Lori Conway, Amy Dillard, and Alice Shepard; 10 grandchildren, Callie (Beau), Sarah, Josh, Joe, Beau, Coady, Jake, Luke, Mary Hannah, and Sam. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Lou (Larry) Spenla and sisters-in-law, Linda Coady, and Doris Coady.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary; her brothers, John Coady, Jimmy Coady, and an infant twin brother, Michael.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Melrose. As was her wish, her body will be cremated following the service and a private family burial will take place at Mt. Calvary Cemetery at a later date.
