Lois "Maxine" Chance, age 95, went to be with her Lord on April 7, 2016 at the Monroe County Hospital. Maxine was born October 31, 1920 to Andy and Bertha (Warren) Henderson in Monroe County. She was the oldest of 6 children. She married Leo Chance on December 13, 1939 in Unionville, Missouri. To that union, one daughter, Barbara was born.

She was a member of the Independent Bible Church of Bussey. In her younger years she worked at the Overall Factory in Knoxville and Maloney's Manufacturing Company in Albia. She enjoyed playing games and was very lucky. She also enjoyed visiting with friends and family. After she and Leo retired, they visited family in Arizona for several winters. When Leo passed away she moved to Lovilia and lived there 20 years. As her health declined she lived with Barbara until November, 2015 when she moved in to Homestead Assisted Living in Albia. She also went with Don and Barbara to Texas for 5 years during the winter months.

She is survived by a daughter, Barbara (Don) Etcher of Lovilia; four grandchildren, Scott (Julie) Etcher of Lovilia, Sandy (Chris) McFarland of Oklahoma, Steve (Thea) Etcher of Missouri, and Shawn (Heather) Etcher of Virginia; sixteen great grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Paul (Jean) Henderson of Ottumwa and Joe (Joan) Henderson of Newton and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband Leo; two brothers, Robert and Ernest Henderson and one sister, Evelyn Dunkin.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 11, 2016, at the Independent Bible Church of Bussey. With Pastors Chris McFarland and Andy Tuttle Officiating. Burial will follow services at Woodlawn Cemetery in Lovilia.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Sunday, April 10, 2016 at the Tharp Funeral Home with Maxine's family present from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
