LeRoy Dicks Brown, age 91, of Albia passed away Sunday, March 1, 2015, at the Monroe Care Center in Albia.

LeRoy was born April 27, 1923, in Plano to Harry and Beryl (Dicks) Brown. He attended school in Moravia, graduating with the class of 1941. After high school, LeRoy served his country in the United States Army. Upon returning from the service, he married Ardyce Hagerman on August 17, 1946, at Iconium Christian Church in Iconium. They shared 68 years of marriage prior to his passing.

LeRoy worked at John Morrell in Ottumwa from 1946 until he retired in 1978. Upon retiring, he purchased the Hilltop Skating Rink in Moravia. LeRoy also drove a school bus, farmed, and worked as a farmhand.

LeRoy was a member of the First Christian Church in Albia. He enjoyed being outdoors, doing things such as camping, pheasant hunting, and fishing. He enjoyed roller skating. LeRoy also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.

LeRoy is survived by his wife, Ardyce, of Albia; two daughters, Sheryl (Tom) Taatjes of Tucson, AZ and Carol (Gary) Scott of Albia; 6 grandchildren, Amy (Chad) Ziller, Sarah (Jason) Gustafson, Elizabeth (Miguel) Miranda, Amber Scott, Michelle Scott, and Jaimie Scott; 10 great-grandchildren, Olivia, Evan, Javier, Juliet, Addison, Kerrigan, Blake, Brooke, Trinten, and Selina; and a brother, Kenny (Wanda) Brown of Moravia. LeRoy is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at First Christian Church in Albia, with Pastor Lynda Carlson officiating. Burial will follow services in Oak View Cemetery in Albia, with military rites provided by the American Legion of Albia, Lovilia, and Melrose.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until time of services on Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at the First Christian Church in Albia, with LeRoy's family present.
