Deborah "Debbie" Lynn Wilson age 59, of Blakesburg, passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2016, at the Monroe County Hospital in Albia.

Debbie was born June 22, 1956, to Alex and Naomi (Hill) LeGrande, in Ottumwa, Iowa. She graduated from Ottumwa High School, and later attended college in Ottumwa and received her LPN. On September 6, 1975, Debbie married James Wilson and to this union a son, Jake was born. They shared 41 years of marriage.

Debbie worked at Everco, before working at the donut shop that they owned and operated in Albia for 10 years. She then went to work at Mercy Hospital in Centerville as an LPN before she worked in home health care. Debbie had a real big heart and was a giving person. She volunteered a lot of her time to the Blakesburg Historical Preservation Society. She enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, knitting and watching football. Her real joy in life was spending time with her family and her dogs Sam and Jake.

Debbie is survived by her husband, Jim Wilson; a son, Jake (Sarah) Wilson; her mother, Naomi; a sister, Pam (Dan) Hoffman; a brother, Phil (Amanda) LeGrande; mother-in-law, Freda Wilson; nieces, Ashley, Haley, Cassandra, Katie, Laynie, Natika, and Angie. She is also survived by her good friends Patty (Dale) Roland, Nita (Dan) Wilson and several cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Alex LeGrande; a sister, Cynthia Benedict and a father-in-law, Bill Wilson.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held from 3:30 until 5:30 p.m., Saturday, February 20, 2016, at the Ottumwa Elks Lodge located at 413 S Iowa Ave, Ottumwa, IA. A private family burial will be held at a later date. The Tharp Funeral Home in Albia is in charge of arrangements.

A memorial has been established to the Blakesburg Historical Preservation Society.
