Darlene Rogers, age 87 of rural Albia, passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at the Monroe County Hospital in Albia.

Darlene was born October 3, 1928, to Albert F. and Zelma (Houk) McFarland in Wapello County. She married Lee Rogers March 18, 1949. Together they shared over 40 years of marriage before Lee's passing in 1997.

Darlene worked at the Monroe County Hospital and the Ottumwa Manor before retiring in 1994. She was an avid quilter and had made over 100 quilts for her family and friends. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church.

Darlene is survived by a son, David (Carmen) Rogers of Albia; a daughter, Diane (Roger) Kann of Spokane, Washington; 3 grandsons, Nick (Stephanie) Rogers of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Jason (fiancé Nikki) Kann and James (Laryssa) Kann of Spokane, Washington; 3 granddaughters, Meghan (Richard) Lettington of Albia, Jennifer (Eric) Olson of Spokane, Washington and Janelle (Chris) Green of Portland, Oregon. The pride of her life was her 21 great-grandchildren, Stryker, Harper, Malcolm, Tobias, Gwendolyn, Jeremiah, Linnea, Gregory, Josiah, Adeleigh, Ahava, Evelyn, Naomi, Penelope, Zoe, Noah, Jackson, Pierce, Alex, Bella, and Shaylee. She is also survived by 2 sisters-in-law, Nancy McFarland of Albia and Louise McFarland of Newton.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lee; her parents, Albert and Zelma; a sister, Margaret and 5 brothers, Harry, Paul, Charles, Ernest, and Max.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 14, 2014, at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Albia; with Pastor Neil Montz officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Monroe County.

Visitation will be 12-7 p.m., Friday, November 13, 2015, at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia with Darlene's family present throughout.

Memorials may be made to Mt. Pleasant Cemetery Association.
