Clyde Dickerson, age 71, of Albia, passed away March 18, 2015 at his home in Albia.

He was born November 14, 1943 to Floyd and Mary Ann (Houser) in Lawton, Oklahoma. Clyde lived in Missouri for a while before moving to Iowa at the age of 12. He attended high school in Oskaloosa, Iowa. While still attending high school, Clyde joined the United States Army in 1962 and served his country until 1965. On February 21, 1975 he married Mary Ann Tomlinson at the First Christian Church in Albia, and to this union 2 children were born, Linda and Clyde (Ed).

Clyde was a farm hand for most of his early life before going to work at the Veterans Hospital in Iowa City. After working in Iowa City, he started working at the Veterans Hospital in Knoxville before retiring in 1998. After retirement he worked at the Texaco truck stop in Albia. Clyde also raised dogs, rabbits, and birds over the years. He enjoyed raccoon hunting, fishing, playing cards,and working in his vegetable and flower gardens. His real joy in life was spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Dickerson of Albia; daughter, Linda (Gary) Wilson of Albia; son, Clyde(Ed) (Michelle) Dickerson of Oskaloosa; 7 grandchildren, Matthew Reed, Robbie Wilson, Tanner Wilson, Tyler Wilson, Heather Wilson, Tara Aldaba, and Harrison Dickerson; 5 great grandchildren, Coleton Wilson, Donovan Wilson, Kingston Wilson, Javier Aldaba, and Isabella Aldaba; 2 brothers, Danny (Sue) Dickerson of Oskaloosa and Floyd Jr. Dickerson of Oskaloosa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Mary Dickerson; and a sister, Mary Louise Draper.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 23, 2015 at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Pastor Brad Gray officiating. Burial will follow services at the Oak View Cemetery in Albia with military rites provided by the American Legion of Albia post #136.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Sunday, March 22, 2015 at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Clyde's family present from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

An open memorial has been established in Clyde's family's name.
